Woman in Action for Climate Change
Throughout ten sessions, each lasting three hours, we invited a diverse group of women, aged between 50 and 86, to join us every Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Patelas de Cuntis Center. Guided by seasoned instructors and external experts, participants will explore the intricate connections between climate, environment, and local traditions.
As part of our innovative approach, we've seamlessly integrated a performatively gamified "Escape Room" activity, offering a playful yet educational perspective on climate change. The series encompasses thematic environmental sessions led by experts, nature walks fostering biodiversity appreciation, and a culminating open presentation—an act or an open class—free for the community to attend and enjoy.
"Women in Action for Climate Change" aims to introduce Contemporary Dance to the rural women achieving self-cares, knowledge, and enjoyment with the body in free movement, working towards new sensitive, emotional, and social experiences.
Theory and practice are combined with affective, perceptual, psychomotor, and artistic-social aspects, with multidisciplinary days that combine work in acting, dance, and body expression, with the goal of facilitating the discovery of the possibilities of the body by each participant. It consists of an initiation to movement through playing, personal gesture, and rhythm, developing communicative skills in different languages and forms of expression and promoting the relationship and knowledge with the performing, body expression and movement.
Training
In this workshop, participants developed soft/civic skills such as verbal and non-verbal communication, interaction, argumentation, exposure, socialisation, empathy, self-confidence and self-esteem that directly contribute to the understanding and respect of European values.
Climate change (awareness raising and reachable actions at personal/institutional level for its mitigation) is the topic that fomented the discussion and promoted the creative process.
On the final day, participants had a public open session.
Open Session
In this session open to the public, we had the opportunity to share learning and experiences obtained during the sessions. In addition to the moment of sharing, this was also a moment of celebration, and community care.
